Florida Sheriff and Family Dispute Visa Status of Crash Victims Now in ICE Custody

After an August 20 car crash in Poinciana, Florida, deputies questioned a hospitalized Ecuadorian mother about her immigration status. The sheriff says she and her daughter overstayed visas. Family says the daughter's visa runs through 2030 and the mother has a pending asylum claim with work permit. Neither has a criminal record. Both are now in ICE custody.
