Government floats tighter rules for wholesale investment offers

The government wants to tighten rules letting everyday investors self-certify as 'wholesale' — a category normally requiring significant assets or experience. An MBIE discussion document flags concern these investors may access offers they can't properly assess. Chapman Tripp partner Penny Sheerin called them "not suitable for inexperienced investors."
