
Government proposes tightening wholesale investment rules over self-certification gap
The government is proposing to tighten wholesale investment offer rules, responding to concern that current settings are too permissive. An MBIE discussion document targets a gap where retail investors self-certify as eligible to access wholesale offers they may lack the sophistication to assess. Chapman Tripp partner Penny Sheerin said such offers were "not suitable for inexperienced investors." No policy decisions have been made.
