Sydney developer Bathla Group enters administration under $3B debt, 1,000 homes at risk

Sydney developer Bathla Group entered voluntary administration (an insolvency process allowing restructuring under a licensed administrator) on August 25, 2026, burdened by over $3 billion in debt. Teneo, the administrator, aims to stabilise operations. Around 1,000 homes and $1.5 billion in projects hang in balance. Founder Bhart Bhushan calls it an orderly restructure. This follows 1,522 NSW construction collapses in 2025/26.
