Nearly half of New Zealanders say National should have replaced Luxon

An RNZ-Reid Research poll of 1,000 people (14–21 August 2026, margin of error +/- 3.1%) found 45.4% think National's MPs wrongly kept Christopher Luxon as leader after a failed August leadership challenge. 36.8% supported the decision; 17.8% were unsure. Among National voters, 78% backed Luxon.
