Cancer specialist calls ACT's $2b cancer centre plan unrealistic

Otago oncology professor Chris Jackson told RNZ that ACT's proposed $2b national cancer centre relies on "magical thinking." He says overseas cancer centres fund themselves through private patients, not donations, and can't cover hundreds of millions in yearly running costs. ACT proposes Auckland and Christchurch campuses funded via partnerships and philanthropy. Jackson is married to Labour MP Rachel Brooking.
