Cancer doctor says ACT's $2 billion cancer centre plan won't work

Cancer doctor Chris Jackson told RNZ that ACT's plan for a $2b national cancer centre is "magical thinking." He says similar centres overseas stay afloat by charging private patients — not through donations — and can't cover hundreds of millions in yearly costs. ACT wants campuses in Auckland and Christchurch, funded by donations and partnerships. Jackson is married to Labour MP Rachel Brooking.
