
USPS Finalizes Mail-in Ballot Rules, Poised to Enact If Court Order Lifts
The Postal Service published a 95-page rulebook on August 21, 2026, that would tighten how mailed voting ballots are handled. If a court order currently blocking the rules is removed, they take effect immediately. Following a March order from President Trump, states would have to share voter lists and add tracking barcodes to ballot envelopes — or the Postal Service won't deliver them.
