Postal Service Prepares New Rules for Mailed Ballots

On August 21, 2026, the Postal Service released a 95-page set of rules for mailed voting ballots. A judge has put these rules on hold, but if that hold is lifted, the rules start right away. They come from a March order by President Trump. States would need to share voter lists and put tracking barcodes on ballot envelopes — or the Postal Service would refuse to deliver the ballots.
