OpenAI Launches Teen ChatGPT With Auto Age-Gating and Parental Alerts
OpenAI released ChatGPT for Teens on August 17. The system predicts whether a user is under 18 and activates a teen experience by default — no separate account needed. It restricts talk on self-harm, violence, and eating disorders, nudges users toward Study Mode, and alerts linked parents in high-risk situations. Child safety experts want independent evidence the safeguards actually work.
