
Brethren reject Nine's influencer story at electoral inquiry
A Plymouth Brethren director, Lloyd Grimshaw, told parliament's electoral committee that Nine newspapers' reporting — the church paid far-right influencers to stage stunts targeting Anthony Albanese during the 2025 election — was a "complete lie." He denied funding political activity, chartering planes, or shifting people. Some members volunteered, he conceded, but denied the church coordinated it.
