GCSE Resits: 620,000 Enter Pipeline as Pass Rates Stay Low

Only one in seven post-16 students resitting GCSE maths passed this summer, and one in six for English — compared with seven in ten 16-year-olds passing on their first attempt. Around 620,000 students in England face the resit pipeline next year. Education Secretary Lucy Powell called the policy "a hamster wheel."
