Burnham orders taxpayer-funded clean-up of three illegal waste dumps in England
The BBC reported that Prime Minister Andy Burnham has ordered public funds to clear three illegal waste dumps in England holding 22,000 tonnes of waste and affecting 2,900 families. The sites are on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, in Runnymede, Surrey, and in Bradford, West Yorkshire. Burnham said the toxic dumps had blighted communities for too long.
