Truck Overturns, Spills 20 Tons of Squid on Rhode Island Highway

A tractor-trailer hauling some 45,000 pounds of raw squid overturned Sunday on Pt. Judith Road in Narragansett, Rhode Island, blanketing all lanes with decaying cephalopods. Crews worked nearly eight hours in 80°F heat to clear the road. The driver and passenger escaped injury; police cited the driver for failure to secure a load.
