NASA Images Capture Falcon 9 Lunar Impact Crater

NASA released before-and-after images of a double crater on the Moon, roughly 60 feet wide and 12 feet deep, formed when a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage struck the surface at 5,400 mph on August 5, 2026. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured the images at three-foot resolution by tilting sideways during a pole-to-pole pass.
