NASA Images Show Falcon 9 Crater on the Moon
NASA released before-and-after images of a double crater on the Moon, roughly 60 feet wide and 12 feet deep, created when a SpaceX Falcon 9 upper stage struck the lunar surface at 5,400 mph on August 5, 2026. The LRO captured the images at three-foot resolution by tilting the entire spacecraft sideways during a pole-to-pole pass.
