Stripe Nears $7B+ Deal for AI Gateway OpenRouter

Bloomberg reports Stripe is close to acquiring OpenRouter, an AI gateway startup, for over $7 billion — five times its $1.3 billion May 2026 Series B valuation. OpenRouter's unified API routes requests to 400+ AI models and claims 8 million users. It raised $113 million three months ago. Stripe declined to comment. The deal is not finalized.
