Federal Felony Charges in World War II Memorial Vandalism Case

Melissa L Farris was arrested August 14 on two federal felony counts — depredation of U.S. property and destruction of a veterans' memorial — each carrying up to 10 years. Authorities say she defaced Washington's World War II Memorial with red graffiti reading "Clean hands dirty $" and pumped soapy bubbles into its fountain.
