U.S. Gas Storage Falls 2% Below Five-Year Average Despite Record Output
U.S. natural gas storage injections totaled 1,914 Bcf this season — about 2% below the five-year average, per the EIA. Working gas stood at 3,117 Bcf on July 31, 2026. Record production (110.3 Bcf/d in May) couldn't offset 16.5 Bcf/d in LNG exports during Q3, which pulled supply away from storage. Spot prices rose at most hubs through August 13.
