America's Natural Gas Reserves Lag Despite Record Production
The U.S. added 2% less natural gas to storage than usual this year, leaving reserves at 3,117 Bcf on July 31, per the EIA. Record pumping couldn't fill the gap because 16.5 Bcf/d of gas was shipped overseas as LNG in Q3. With less gas parked in reserve, prices rose at most hubs through August 13.
