UN: Yemen Nears Full-Scale War as Truce Frays

UN envoy Hans Grundberg told the Security Council on August 14 that Yemen is closer to all-out war than at any point since the April 2022 truce. Houthi and government forces are fighting across Marib, Hadramout, Taiz, and Mocha. That truce — a temporary pause never formalized into a permanent ceasefire — has been the main brake on violence.
