UN warns Yemen closest to all-out war since 2022 truce as front-line clashes surge

UN Special Envoy Hans Grundberg told the Security Council on August 14 that Yemen is nearer to renewed all-out war than at any point since the April 2022 truce. Houthi and government forces are clashing across Marib, Hadramout, Taiz, and Mocha. The truce, never formalized into a permanent ceasefire, has been the main constraint on violence since the war's peak phase.
