National and ACT publicly split on bed tax ahead of 2026

National's Christopher Luxon told RNZ his party may look at a bed tax if re-elected. Coalition partner ACT's David Seymour rejected the idea, proposing a $1-per-night local tourism dividend drawn from existing GST and visitor levies instead.
