UK Braces for Hottest Summer on Record in 2026
Summer 2026 is set to become the UK's hottest on record, The Guardian reported on 11 August. England had its warmest June ever, and the Met Office tracked three heatwaves. Summer 2025 holds the current record at a 16.10°C mean temperature — 0.4°C above the storied 1976 summer. The Met Office now calls climate extremes Britain's "normal."
