Lebanon Ends Death Penalty as Three U.S. States Prepare Simultaneous Executions

Lebanon's parliament voted on August 11, 2026 to abolish the death penalty, converting all existing death sentences to life imprisonment — the first such abolition in its region. Two days later, Tennessee, Alabama, and Oklahoma are set to carry out lethal injections on the same day, the first triple U.S. execution since 2010.
