Bragg: low-income Australians should accept substandard housing

Liberal senator Andrew Bragg told ABC Radio National on 13 August 2026 that lower-income Australians should "definitely" accept substandard housing to boost dwelling numbers. His Press Club plan to cut the construction code to 80 pages would scrap energy efficiency and accessibility standards. Acoss and Everybody's Home warned it would let developers cut corners on basic liveability.
