Total solar eclipses will cross northern Spain on 12 August 2026 and southern Spain — including Cádiz and the Strait of Gibraltar — on 2 August 2027. Two totality paths over one country within twelve months is a statistical anomaly, driven by the geometry of the saros cycle (the roughly 18-year pattern governing eclipse recurrence), not a recurring trend.
