Spain to See Two Total Solar Eclipses in Just One Year

A total solar eclipse — when the Moon fully blocks the Sun — will cross northern Spain on 12 August 2026. A second will pass over southern Spain, including Cádiz and the Strait of Gibraltar, on 2 August 2027. Two such events in one country within a year is a rare fluke of orbital geometry, not a pattern that repeats.
