Zhu Rongji, Architect of China's WTO Era, Dies at 97

Former Premier Zhu Rongji died in Beijing on August 12 at age 97, Xinhua reported. As premier from 1998 to 2003, Zhu steered China into the WTO and overhauled state-owned enterprises. His death arrives as slowing growth and U.S. trade tensions strain the state-led, export-driven model he built.
