England and Wales courts ban smart glasses and all wearable recording devices

HMCTS has barred Meta smart glasses and all wearable recording devices from criminal, civil, and family court buildings in England and Wales, effective immediately. Devices are confiscated at entry and returned on departure. Courts already prohibit cameras; HMCTS declined to extend the existing smartphone exception, citing the inability to visually distinguish smart glasses from ordinary eyewear.
