England and Wales courts ban all smart glasses from courtrooms

HMCTS banned Meta smart glasses and all wearable recording devices from criminal, civil, and family court buildings in England and Wales, effective immediately. Devices are confiscated at entry and returned on departure. Courts already prohibit cameras; HMCTS declined to extend the smartphone exception, citing the inability to visually distinguish smart glasses from ordinary eyewear.
