Sound Barrier Veteran Andy Green Chases Hydrogen Land Speed Record at Bonneville

Andy Green, who broke the sound barrier in a car at 763 mph in 1997, returned to Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats on August 11, 2026, to set a land speed record in the hydrogen-powered JCB Hydromax. He hit 368 mph in unofficial practice. To qualify, the FIA — motor sport's governing body — must observe two timed runs in opposite directions.
