Octopus Energy Asks UK Homes to Cut Power Use During August 12 Solar Eclipse

Britain's largest household energy supplier, Octopus Energy, wants customers to skip washing machines and dishwashers from 6pm to 8pm on August 12, when a solar eclipse blocks up to 95% of sunlight over parts of the UK. The eclipse could erase 9.7GW of solar generation across Europe. Participating households get two free hours of electricity the following weekend.
