Octopus Energy Asks UK Homes to Power Down During August 12 Solar Eclipse

Britain's largest household energy supplier, Octopus Energy, has urged customers to avoid running washing machines and dishwashers between 6pm and 8pm on August 12, when a solar eclipse blocks up to 95% of sunlight over parts of the UK. The eclipse could wipe out 9.7GW of solar generation across Europe. Participating households get two free hours of electricity the following weekend.
