A 1,000-Year-Old Tapestry Is Leaving France for the First Time
The Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century embroidered record of the Norman Conquest in 1066, will travel to London's British Museum from September 2026 to June 2027. It marks the artifact's first journey outside Normandy in nearly a thousand years. The move happens while Bayeux's museum undergoes major renovations. Britain's government insured the priceless tapestry for £800 million.
