Bank of England Will Put Animals Instead of Famous People on New Money

The Bank of England is replacing historical figures like Winston Churchill and Jane Austen with wildlife—foxes, sharks, and puffins—on its next banknotes. The decision followed public voting in July 2025 favoring nature designs. Another vote in summer 2026 will decide which animals appear on which denominations. The new notes won't arrive for years.
