Instagram has automatically put all users aged 13–17 into Teen Accounts, which filter out adult content by default and limit who can message them and go live. Teens under 16 need parental permission to change these protections. Parents can set daily time limits and review what their children see. It's the biggest safety change Instagram has made for young users.
