NASA Plans $20–30 Billion Moon Base Near the South Pole

NASA is building a permanent base at the moon's south pole, ordering special spacecraft from Blue Origin to deliver equipment and astronauts. The base will house four people for weeks at a time and extract oxygen from moon rock. This marks a shift from brief exploration visits to long-term human presence on the moon. Crewed missions begin in 2027.
