Blue Origin Learns From Engine Failure to Improve Rockets

Blue Origin is using lessons from a failed rocket engine to fix similar problems in larger engines. An investigation found that cooling system changes caused structural damage in the smaller engine. The company is redesigning the cooling system and adjusting how the engine operates—solutions it will now apply to more powerful engines used on future rockets for Blue Origin and its partner, United Launch Alliance.
