Smith's Team Says Lawmakers Never Asked About Texts in Testimony

House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan urged the Justice Department on July 23, 2026 to investigate former special counsel Jack Smith for allegedly lying under oath. Smith's lawyers said Republican lawmakers never asked him about National Archives text messages when he testified Jan. 22. Rep. Jamie Raskin said the case would be "laughed out of court."
