Labor to vote on gas tax the PM already rejected

Labor's July 2026 conference will vote on adding a gas export tax to its policy wish-list. Albanese ruled out the union-backed 25% tax in April 2026. But the Australia Institute says he asked for modelling on a new gas tax. These wish-list pledges don't actually bind the government to act.
