Labor conference to vote on gas tax Albanese already killed off

Labor's July 2026 national conference will vote on a platform amendment for "a fairer return" on gas resources — tied to the ACTU's proposed 25% LNG export tax. Albanese ruled that out in April 2026. The Australia Institute says he separately requested modelling on a new gas tax. Platform pledges aren't binding on cabinet.
