Hong Kong court sends British woman to prison for six years over fake rape claim
A Hong Kong court sentenced Isabel Rose, 26, to six years in prison for blackmail and for lying to authorities. She falsely accused an unnamed British banker of rape, demanding money that rose from £5,000 to £100,000 while threatening to go to the police. Physical evidence was inconclusive. Rose insisted she was raped and spent nearly two years stuck in Hong Kong awaiting trial.
