Hong Kong court jails British woman six years for fabricated rape claim and blackmail
A Hong Kong court sentenced Isabel Rose, a 26-year-old British events manager, to six years in prison for blackmail and perverting the course of public justice. Judge Adriana Noelle Tse Ching found Rose fabricated a rape allegation against an unnamed British banker, escalating demands from £5,000 to £100,000 while threatening police action. Forensic testing was inconclusive. Rose, who maintained she was raped, spent nearly two years unable to leave Hong Kong on bail.
