EU Approves France's Ban on Social Media for Under-15s

On July 8, 2026, the European Commission approved France's list of social media platforms that must block children under 15, ruling it does not break EU trade or funding rules. France's Parliament passed the ban on July 21 — Europe's first. Regulator ARCOM will enforce it while the Constitutional Council reviews the law. Other EU countries could copy the approach.
