European Commission Clears France's Social Media Blacklist for Under-15 Ban

On July 8, 2026, the European Commission approved France's blacklist mechanism for social networks barred to children under 15, clearing EU state aid and internal market rules. France's Parliament passed the ban on July 21, the first such law in Europe. ARCOM will enforce it pending Constitutional Council review. The EC-approved blacklist creates a replicable template for other member states.
