Nolan Wells Case Goes Before Grand Jury as Family's Lawyer Disputes Sheriff

Nolan Wells, 18, died after a July 4 boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi. At a July 20 memorial, attorney Ben Crump said a witness contradicts the sheriff's claim Wells voluntarily stayed behind. Crump alleged messages were deleted from Wells's phone, found with friends. The prosecutor will hand the case to a grand jury — a citizen panel that decides if charges should follow.
