Robinhood Opens Private Company Investing to Regular People
Robinhood launched a fund in March 2026 that lets ordinary investors buy stakes in private companies like OpenAI and Stripe—historically available only to wealthy individuals worth $1 million-plus. Over 150,000 retail investors participated, bypassing the six-figure minimums that traditionally gatekeep access to early-stage company investments. The fund deployed $75 million into OpenAI on April 22.
