Nearly a Third of UK Children Bypass Age Checks Online

A survey of 1,270 UK children found 32% had beaten age-verification systems within two months, with nearly half saying the checks were easy to dodge. Around half of those surveyed also encountered harmful content online. The findings suggest that simple technical barriers alone cannot keep children away from restricted sites and material — a significant gap in how the UK's Online Safety Act is working in practice.
