
Jailed as teenagers, free at 38: why they stayed so long
Luke Ings and Liam Bennett broke the law at 17 and were told to serve at least 21 and 24 months. They stayed in prison until 38, then released with no check-ins. Wolverhampton Crown Court cancelled their unlimited prison terms, saying they were never shown to be dangerous. Those terms began in 2005, ended in 2012, but old cases remained.
